DAVIDSON,
Robert Michael (Rob), 50 The family of Rob Davidson is deeply saddened to
announce his passing on Saturday, July 31, 2010. He passed away peacefully
surrounded by his loving family at Ottawa General Hospital after a brief but
courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 24, 1959, he was the oldest child
of Robert and Winifred Davidson, Ottawa. Rob grew up in East River, Nova Scotia
and after living in Halifax for several years, settled in Mount Uniacke, NS.
During the 1990's Rob was the Creative Director for Halifax radio station
CJCH-C100 until 2001 when he and wife Carmen moved to Kanata, Ontario where he
had a successful career with the Government of Canada's Heritage and Culture
Department as Senior Communication Advisor until his illness. Rob's interests
were many and he approached them as he did life in general, with passion and
enthusiasm. Along with a gift for writing, he was a talented musician and played
with several bands throughout his life. Rob was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed
woodworking. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Rob had an effortless charisma; his warm smile and quick sense of humour
instantly charmed all who met him. Rob gave the gift of laughter generously and
he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 22 years, Carmen (Jewers),
Ottawa; his twin sons Dylan and Damien Teed, 28, Connecticut; his parents Bob
and Winnie, Ottawa; sister Cheryl, Ottawa, and brother Shawn (Lee Davidson),
Mount Uniacke, NS. Rob was a proud grandfather to Nathan and Riley and beloved
uncle to Alexander, Olivia and Fraser. Arrangements for cremation have been
entrusted to Ottawa Cremation Service in Ottawa. A private interment will be
held in Nova Scotia at a later date. At Rob's request there will be no funeral
service. Donations in Rob's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
