BUTT,
Robert Donald "Don" Born February 20th, 1938 in Ottawa ON. Died at
St. Vincent Hospital in Ottawa after a courageous battle with cancer on July 07,
2008 at the age of 70. Don was the eldest of two children born to Donald R. Butt
and Marjorie M. Butt, nee Giles. His brother William Clive 1940-1941
died in infancy. Don was raised on Hinton Avenue in Ottawa attending local
schools and Ottawa Tech. After graduating he worked for EMI (Electronics
Material International), a research and repair facility in Ottawa. In April 1963
he joined the then Department of External Affairs, now Foreign Affairs Canada,
as a rotational Electronics Technician. He served overseas in Bonn, Dar-es-Salem,
Lagos, Saigon, Tokyo, Beijing and Belgrade, retiring in 1995. Don enjoyed many a
beer with friends at the Eastview Legion on Cyr Ave. in Ottawa, his second home.
He will be missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him. Heartfelt
thanks to the 5th floor nurses and staff of St. Vincent Hospital for their
devoted care, to friends who visited and especially to Murray and his family for
their dedication during his battle with cancer. A wake will be held at the
Eastview Legion 294 Cyr Ave, Ottawa ON on Wednesday August 13th 12 - 2 p.m.
