T. R. (Russ) Scott & Flora Scott



Scott, Thomas Russell: Born May 14, 1923 in Pictou, Nova Scotia, Thomas Russell Scott died peacefully on Thursday December 22, 2005 in Ottawa. In their 60th year of marriage, beloved husband of Flora (nee Jomphe), he will be deeply missed. Loving father of Lorraine Kirby (Harris), grandfather to Nathan and Hannah and uncle to Tom (Florence). Predeceased by his infant daughter Linda, his sister Thelma and his brothers Andrew and Evan. Russ first served his country during World War II in Italy with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals, then with a distinguished diplomatic career including several tours in London, England. Longstanding supporter of the Liberal Party of Canada and the Anglican Church. Life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, The Federal Association of Former Foreign Service Communicators, and Retired Technicians, Foreign Affairs Retired Technicians, The Foreign Affairs and The Masonic Lodge 5927 in London England. During his retirement years in Mississauga in addition to his involvement in political associations both federal and provincial, he was an active member of the Credit River Anglers Association, the Press Agents Wine Club and many charitable organizations. (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.), Nepean on Tuesday December 27th from 3 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark's Anglican Church, Fisher Avenue, Ottawa on Wednesday December 28 at 1 p.m. immediately followed by a reception in the Church Hall.  The graveside service will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery, Ottawa at 3:15 p.m. after the reception. SCOTT, Flora Marie (nee Jomphe) 1921 - 2007 Flora passed into her Cinquieme Saison gracefully on Monday January 29th 2007 at the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre in Ottawa, joining her beloved husband Russell and infant daughter Linda. Flora was the last surviving child of the 11 children of Ludger Jomphe & Lucille Cormier of Havre-aux-Maisons, Iles de la Madeleine. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Lorraine & son-in-law Harris Kirby, and grandchildren Nathan and Hannah. Born December 10, 1921 Flora left home as a young teen to work in Antigonish, NS and then moved to Montreal where she met the love of her life, Russell. Married after the war, in 1946, Flora lived in Toronto, Ottawa and in the U.K. Flora will be remembered for her joie de vivre by everyone who knew her and for many volunteer activities over the years. As the wife of a diplomat in Ottawa and London, Flora was a generous and accomplished hostess - a talent she continued to use in retirement in Toronto. Flora was always a tireless worker on behalf of the Liberal party, both federally and provincially, and was a particular supporter of women in politics. Heartfelt thanks to the medical and nursing staff of Emergency and B5 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit at the Elisabeth Bruyere.
