Obituary Addendum. Stan touched many lives and this web site is part of his legacy. His story needed a little bit more to share with friends and visitors. David Smith contributed a message that he sent to Stan's family that expressed our sentiments, which is copied below.

"Our" Stanley will be missed by so many. He will never be forgotten by his many friends and colleagues from his External Affairs days where he made his mark with his keen mind and his quick wit.
Our paths first crossed back in the 60's when Stan and Mary were on their way to their first posting in Cairo and they stayed over in Rome for a few days.
Working in the East Block in those early days, he was a familiar face to many. After a long career which saw him rise to management levels, he continued to support his former colleagues with this website which is still in use today and is a real gift to everyone. As a long-standing member of the Vanier Legion where we gather weekly to enjoy the company of others who shared a different life of living overseas for many years, his presence made our chats always interesting and sometimes challenging. Our Legion gatherings were never the same after he had to withdraw for health reasons and we miss him each week.
Stan became our good and special friend to so many, especially when we fellow retirees gathered to enjoy each other's company. We will truly miss him. Rest in Peace Stan - you have earned it.
