Lunch Meeting January 29, 2014

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 462 has been the Wednesday home of the Old Foreign Affairs Retired Technicians (OFARTS) and their former telecommunications colleagues for close to 20 years.

According to posted notices, the elected Branch 462 executive was replaced by a committee appointed by the Ontario Command on December 9, 2013 to resolve irregularities and repair a tenuous financial situation. As part of their attempt, the rental rate for the kitchen was increased beyond what the cook Marin Pupinic was prepared to pay. As a consequence he decided to leave effective January 31, 2014. In anticipation of his departure, David S and Shirley G organized a farewlll for Marin and his staff to follow his final lunch of Smoked Meat and Fries. The presentation of cards, cash gifts, a sweater and wine contributed by OFARTS attendees was conducted by Lou B and followed by "He's a Jolly Good Fellow"..

We are awaiting news from the Branch of what arrangements they will make to accommodate OFARTS at our next planned meeting on Wednesday February 5, 2014. The President of the branch Womans Auxillary, Paula Brazeau, has promised her co-operation.
